Infrared Body Wrap – Does it Burn Calories?

By Sean Frye

Infrared Body Wraps have individual silicone pads for the thighs, hips, stomach and arms. Each of these pads emit infrared therapy similar to the infrared energy found in FIR Saunas. The heat produced causes the heart rate to increase (similar to exercising) and over the course of the treatment, you will also begin sweating. By mimicking as if you are actually exercising, your body will burn calories and your metabolism is also increased.

Infrared body wrap treatment times are usually anywhere from forty to fifty minutes. The amount of calories you burn during this time may differ from person to person depending on their size. A petite person may not have that many calories to burn and therefore will not burn as many as a heavier set person.

Benefit of using the infrared body wraps are that it improves the appearance of cellulite, aids in minor pain relief, contours and shapes the body, and possible inch and weight loss.

One thing to keep in mind after a treatment is to rehydrate your body by drinking water. Also, since you realize that you have burned some calories, you may be inclined to go eat a hamburger and milk shake. If you were to do that, you would basically just replace those calories you just burned.

Your metabolism is also increased after a session and will be increased for a day or two. During this time, your body may be burning more calories than normal. Using these wraps in conjunction with a healthy diet is recommended for best results.
